I would like to request that you pray for the safe delivery of our 1st grandson. His day of arrival is supposed to be April 5th but we all know how that can go. My daughter in law is doing very well with her first pregnancy. She and my son are so excited, especially now that they have all the "stuff" ready for his arrival. My hubby and I are soooo excited also and will be flying to Fort Lauderdale on the 12th of April to love up on the baby and parents.

HAPPY EASTER
I wanted to share the photo of my mom and me today. I think my mom is beautiful. I don't take enough photos of her. She looks so fine when she dresses for special occasions. She and my dad had Easter breakfast with us. They went to the 9am service with us this morning. They are elderly but speedy!! I called and woke them up about 8:20. (they had about a 20-25 minute drive to the church) They were at the 9am service a tad bit late-they weren't the only ones late. The service was very special with the choir and other special music and the pastor gave a wonderful message.
Easter is what life is all about! I love the freedom I have in Christ. HE'S ALIVE! and gives life.
Enjoy looking at a sampling of the sugar cookies that I decorated for Easter. Our family tradition is to make Easter bread called Kulich. It is a sweet bread which you can add raisins, nuts, dates, or candied fruit. We also add vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I didn't make any this year.

Show and Tell Friday

I'm so excited to share this at Kelli's Show and Tell this week. This is a wheat or grain grinder. It's brand name is called a Magic Mill. This is the BEST find I ever found at a garage sale. I found it about 20 years ago!! At that time the Magic Mills were selling for about $250.oo. I got it for ONLY $10.00. It was used at times once a day while I was raising 4 children at home. I would grind the whole wheat berries fresh every day and whip out a loaf of bread to go with the dinner. I haven't used it on a regular basis for about 5 years now. With the price of bread going up,up, up, I decided that it was time to get the ole machine out again. I'm sorry that I didn't put in a photo of the wheat berries in the hopper on the top before they go through the grinder and end up in the stainless steel bowl on the bottom. The bread turned out great and was so tasty with the jelly I made a couple of weeks ago!
YUM!!
Here is a tablecloth that my mom made for me about 20 years ago. It is made with white and blue thread. Each circle is made individually and put together. I used it a lot when the kids were growing up. Unbelievable it doesn't have too many stains on it. :) I treasure this piece of my mother's delicate hand work.

Show and Tell Friday
Please feel free to check out the show and tell at Kellie's place. She has all the information in joining the fun!!This week for Show and Tell I have a photo of the jelly I made today. I made it from berries that my brother Kenney and his wife and I picked this past summer. I had the berries in the freezer calling out for months to make jelly. I got the jars ready last night and started out cooking the berries this morning. I only used half of the berries and strained out the juice and guess what? I only had half the juice to make the jelly. Needless to say, I had to cook up the rest of the berries. It obviously took more time than what I had planned. I had to take a break for lunch and had a 2 hour doctors appointment. When I came back I put all the juice in a pot and put in the sure jell and started the heat under the pot. I looked at my supply of sugar and it was obvious that I needed much more than what I had. I searched every cupboard for sugar but all in vain. I had to go to the grocery store and get the sugar. My jelly was in the jars 6 1/2 hours after I first started this am. WHEW!! It better have turned out after all of that. The berries I used are called "moss berries". I'm not sure if they are only native to Alaska but I haven't seen them anyplace else. They are the small black berries that are pictured in my header. The jelly is soooooo delicious!!

A Dream Come True
My husband took me on a date last night to a Symphony Orchestra performance. It was held at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts at the Atwood Concert Hall. The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra presented "Statements of Grandeur". I've ALWAYS wanted to attend a symphony orchestra performance so this was a dream come true!! It was a fabulous evening. To see a view of the concert hall, check out this sitehttp://www.alaskapac.org/theaters.aspx
We sat on the left side just above the main floor. During intermission we went up to the mezzinine (I don't know if I spelled that correctly), to see what the view would be from up there. I'm not sure that I would enjoy being up there. Then we went outside to a platform and watched ice skaters and saw some ice sculptures in the town square. It was lovely outside for a few minutes!! I'm so thankful for the gift of music-we are so blessed.

Friday show and tell

This week on my show and tell I'm showing the darling little tea set that my sister, Bonnie made for my one year old granddaughter, Mackenzie for Christmas this past year. Bonnie works a lot with ceramics and is very creative. Mackenzie was so delighted when she saw the little tea cup. I will try and get the video on this blog of her celebrating her gift.
