Beautiful Baby Boy

I just had to share these photos of James and his family. Baby James is now 10 months old. I'm thinking that he gets plenty of loving but he certainly could use my smothering. I shared the side view of BJ (my nick name for him-it stands for Baby James) :) because I wanted you to see those gorgeous eyelashes!

scripture memory

This is my verse to memorize for this 2nd 2 weeks of Feb. It is Psalms 118:8 It is better to trust the Lord than to trust people. NCV
I chose this verse for a couple of reasons. The first: it is short. :) The second is that I read someplace that this is found in the very center of the Bible. I don't know what version that is in but it doesn't matter to me. The message is profound.
If you haven't started a scripture memory habit-I would encourage you to do so. If you are hesitant on starting, just start and see how the Lord leads. There are plenty of short verses in the Bible to start off with if you are afraid of the longer ones. :)
My dear friend Margaret decorated this index card binder for me to put the verses that I choose to memorize in. It keeps them handy and pretty.

Valentine's Day 2009

These are photos of some of the activities we did on Saturday, Valentine's Day 2009. Jordan ran in the Susitna 100 race. It was a beautiful day for outdoor activities, so it was perfect for the race. You can either run, ski or bike the race. All I have to say is that he finished and was had some pretty sore muscles the next day. My mom and dad spent the day with us so I had to get a photo of them by the sign for the race. My handsome husband is posing with the scarf I had made him for a valentine present. I knit the scarf in 4 days, so you can only imagine all of the time I put into knitting during the week. It isn't a long scarf but it is the perfect size for just keeping his neck warm, especially while he puts gas in my car. Making sure my vehicle has gas in it is one of the romantic things he does for me. I appreciate that soooooo much!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!! I'm posting on Friday because I am planning on being out of town on Saturday. My hubby and I are going to go to Mackenzie Point outside of Wasilla to see our youngest son, Jordan run in a race. It is a 50k run. (for more information - http://www.susitna100.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=28)
I was hoping to get photos of my first batch of cookies that a friend and I decorated but this blog photo upload isn't working properly today. I mailed off most of the cookies and gave a bunch away. I made the pillow cases and send 2 of them off to a couple of college students. I will post the photo of a scarf I'm making for my hubby for his present. It is going to be his "pumping gas scarf". He always looks cold when he is out pumping gas so I thought this would be a practical gift. I hardly ever have had to get gas into my vehicles because my husband always does it for me, I think that is soooooo romantic. So, really, the scarf is a romantic gift. :) I think the scarf will be finished by the time he gets home from work today. (I just started it Monday evening)-blush-blush!!

Food for Thought

I found this bit of information on the net which I thought was very interesting taken the situation we as a nation find ourselves in right now.

If you stack up $1,000 bills, $1 trillion would need a pile that is 80 miles high.

Bible verse

The verse that I have chosen to memorize this week is I Corinthians 2:12: " We have not recieved the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us." I was blessed by this verse some time ago and wrote it down on a note pad that I keep in my purse. I have a classy embossed pad of small note paper in my purse that I use to write down things mostly from the Bible that bless my soul. I wish I had written down why I had this verse written out. The truths in this verse are so humbling and at the same time so incredible.
