I think it is fasinating that Bush and many others, after 9-11, were quick to blare out the fact that Islam was such a peaceful religion!!! Who do these people think we all are: brain dead? These were Islamic barbarians who smashed into and destroyed the towers and people's lives on 9-11. It is very ironic that these same "peaceful people" have been so destructive after seeing a cartoon depicting Muhammad with a bomb in his turban. I read that Islam widely holds that representations of Muhammad are banned for fear that they could lead to idolatry. What do you think of that? They apparently are pretty righteous folks, but actually, I don't believe that. Seeing is believing and peaceful isn't what I've been seeing or reading about.
Another observation on this whole cartoon thing is that our freedom of the press seems to be supressed!! Isn't that interesting that we of all people in the world are "free" and they are not printing this cartoon in the media in our country? Maybe, we are afraid that these people aren't as peaceful as we were being forced to believe!!
There is only PEACE through Jesus Christ. In all my years of believing in the Bible I've come to the conclusion that living life the way Jesus taught in the Word of God, the Bible, is the only way to have a peaceful life. Jesus says in John 14:27, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give to you.... This is what I call peaceful!

Valentine Party!!!
The much awaited valentine party came and went with a lot of excitement!! I had a fun time planning it and getting ready for it. I have a whole story as to the origin of my own valentine party for my friends. I will blog that later. The ladies brought fabulous salads to share. The chocolate shaped hearts filled with a fluffy dessert were delicious! I made a cheesecake that turned out great-a FIRST for me! I got help from a friend of mine who is a fabulous chef!!!!! She just made it sound so simple and actually, I took her word for it and it was a pretty simple dessert to make. I didn't get a photo of the food so you won't be seeing it.
The craft we made was a placemat. I was pretty pleased with the creativity of each friend's choice of fabric and cut outs!
We ran out of time to do the pampering part of the party which was ok with me. I had an absolutely fun pampering activity planned that I wasn't able to do anyway because I wasn't able to get the item to make it happen. (I'm planning on getting it soon so I will be prepared for it next year) The last minute change was going to be ok and the friends who were here it would of made the last minute activity fun anyway.
Needless to say, I had a super fun time and I think the ladies did also.

results of our projects
Here are the photos of the projects we completed these 3 days. The cookies are the cookies she will take home to her family. We are pretty happy with the results of our sewing project. I'm going to be getting ready for my valentine's party this weekend, so I might not be blogging until after my party on the 14th. I'm so excited!!
sewing project
I've had a fun time with my house guest these past 3 days. We are going to bake more sugar cookies today. We made the dough yesterday. These will go to the church for a kids party this weekend. They will do the decorating. The two of us will probably decorate a dozen or so for her to take to her family and to send to a college student. Last night I showed her how to make a make-up bag. I will post a photo later today since I didn't take one last night after we finished the project. She had to do some ripping of seams-so she asked me if I was teaching her this project as a punishment!!!

Valentine Cookies
I was blessed this past weekend by a visit from my sister and her hubby. It was a short but fun filled time. We were able to find time to decorate these sugar cookies. My sister is very creative, and I get ideas from her. We were able to decorate about 4 dozen cookies and I mailed out 6 packages to my kids, my MIL, and a friend who moved away from me. What a blessing it is to have sisters. The photo will be published as soon as blogspot fixes the problems they are having, which is this evening, apparently.

Augustine volcano
Well, Augustine volcano isn't finished puffing yet. We are fortunate that the ash isn't reaching us yet. Hopefully, it will settle down very soon. This has been a bother to the airline traffic, and will be such a bother if it reaches us.
