rhubarb

I'm pretty proud of how my rhubarb looks. It actually has nothing to do with my green thumb-cause it isn't green!!! The good Lord has mercy on me and that's a good thing all around!! I think we are going to have another summer day today. My garden is starting to look pretty good. The perennials are doing super but the annuals are having a hard time. The flowers in my pots are doing great.

Ever since we got back from vacation, I've been working in the yard and flowerbeds getting them back to pre-vacation shape! I do enjoy my flowers and I really miss the garden I used to have when we lived in Nebraska. I tried planting a garden when we first moved to Texas and failed miserably because I didn't know about the different growing cycles down here. Everything just burned up and I was so sad. I miss canning from my garden and going out and picking fresh tomatoes and cucumbers and slicing them up to go with supper. I miss frying up green tomatoes and okra or getting out early in the morning and picking green beans! sigh

Your rhubabrb looks wonderful! Rhubarb pie is Dave's absolute favorite pie but I usually can only find frozen and even that's pretty hard to find!

OOOOH, my goodness, the rhubarb around here grows just about anywhere. Infact, the plant in the photo was almost killed by me on purpose. I had enough growing in our back yard that I thought I'd get rid of this plant but it keeps on growing prettier every year. It is totally red in color!! Too bad I couldn't mail you some. :)
