(15) Leaving Cold Bay to King Cove

There is my sister Shirlee with two boxes of donuts for the family in King Cove-YUM!! I carried five dozen eggs in my carry-on and there was no breakage!! I had 10 lbs of potatoes on one of my suitcases. We just have to make the most of the trip cause things are soooo expensive down there.

Here I am climbing into the aircraft we took from Cold Bay to King Cove.

We flew over a blanket of fog the whole way from Cold Bay into the King Cove air field. It looked very beautiful. I just had faith that we were going to see the runway to land on.

(14) Yeah-we see the runway!!

Yes, we flew over the fog all the way from Cold Bay to King Cove-about a ten minute flight, then it was as clear as a bell on to the runway. The runway is about 5 miles from the community.
King Cove is located on that spit of land that you can see jutting out in the middle of the water. The road from the airfield is paved!!!

The beautiful active Mt. Pavlof can be be seen at a certain spot from King Cove. It spouts steam and lava often. You can see it in the background between the 2 mountains.My nephew is picking his nets close to town.

My dad gave me away in marriage 34 years ago on August 10th". My hubby was very nice to let me leave him during this time . My very creative flower girl whipped up this cake which we enjoyed. (you might want to click on the photo to get a beter view of the cake)This handsome little guy is my sister Bonnie's grandson. He has such a beautiful smile.
